A New Time for Avid Pro Tools - A Conversation with François Quereuil, Vice President, Audio Product Management at Avid

Using the opportunity of the recent Audio Engineering Society convention in New York, I met with François Quereuil, Vice President, Audio Product Management at Avid, to discuss all the latest trends in that space, and in particular to learn where Pro Tools is heading. For the benefit of our many readers who don't normally follow the pro audio markets and are not exactly familiar with Avid and Pro Tools, enough to say that this is the market leading digital audio workstation (DAW) solution.

M-Audio just launched two new ultra-compact and affordable audio interfaces featuring the company’s own Crystal preamps, enabling users anywhere to produce studio quality sound for livestreams, podcasts, and music productions. And the company increased the perceived value with a strong software bundle for all production needs.

M-Audio announced the introduction of its new AIR Series USB-C audio interfaces, designed to provide affordable options to music producers, composers and musicians the ability to work in 24-bit/192kHz studio-quality computer-based recordings with an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. With a range of five models, all the interfaces feature M-Audio’s exclusive Crystal microphone preamps and are complemented with a powerful software bundle, which includes Pro Tools First M-Audio Edition.

At NAMM 2015, Avid introduced Pro Tools First, a free version of Pro Tools, together with Pro Tools 12, introducing new flexible licensing, cloud collaboration, new marketplace services, and cloud publishing. The new colaboration platform extends to Sibelius, Avid’s notation software, now with cloud publishing.
