Cirrus Logic is offering an advanced audio solution to help ease PC manufacturers' migration to the MIPI SoundWire interface (1.2.1 specification) for a richer, more immersive audio experience. At the heart of the Cirrus Logic advanced, low-power audio solution are the company’s recently announced CS35L56 smart amplifier and CS42L43 Smart HIFI codec that are included in the Intel SoundWire-ready reference design aimed at helping laptop designers make a smooth migration to the new specification.

Audioscenic, the company behind the first commercially available 3D audio beamforming speaker solution, announced the launch of the Amphi Windows Suite, a set of software packages that integrates the company's patented spatial audio technology into currently available laptop and desktop systems. Cadence Design Systems announced that the Cadence Tensilica HiFi DSP core now supports Dolby Atmos for PCs, becoming the first DSP IP core to provide this capability. Cadence has optimized Dolby Atmos to run on the HiFi DSP, enabling consumers to experience Dolby Atmos over headphones or through PC speakers while reducing power consumption and improving battery life. A number of PCs featuring Dolby Atmos are currently available, including Huawei's Matebook X and the Lenovo Yoga 920 2-in-1 convertible laptop.
