Waves Audio Uses Nx Technology to Recreate Abbey Road Studio 3 Room Emulation

Waves Audio introduced the Abbey Road Studio 3 plugin, created in collaboration with Abbey Road Studios. Using its Waves Nx 3D audio binaural encoding technology to emulate the acoustics of a space, the new plug-in allows anyone to work with headphones, as if it was inside the Abbey Road Studio 3 Control Room. For music producers, this means the ability to hear the music in the renowned studio, with an emulation of the studio's nearfield stereo monitors, 5.1 or 7.1 setups.

Audeze announced that their Mobius Cinematic 3D Audio headphones will now be available for purchase on Amazon.com, available in “Team Copper” and “Team Blue” colors. The Mobius has been building up momentum since its original Indiegogo campaign, which amassed an impressive $1,1 Million USD raised by 4075 backers, which had the chance to grab the innovative planar magnetic headphones, the first in the market with Waves Nx Head Tracking technology, for a discounted price. Since then, Audeze perfected the product with the latest components and entered volume production.

The word was out for some time that Audeze was working on something big and now it's official. The high end headphone brand has expanded its market scope with the launch of the Mobius headphones, targeting gamers and content creators working with 3D audio platforms. Mobius implementation delivers a premium high-end, fully immersive 3D cinematic audio and head tracking-enabled headphone design, powered by Audeze’s planar magnetic technologies.

Waves Audio is now shipping two new tools and a combo for audio engineers mixing 360-degree and VR projects: the Waves B360 Ambisonics Encoder, a new plugin for converting mono, stereo or surround audio into 360-degree Ambisonics B-format; Waves Nx Ambisonics, a new component of the Waves Nx Virtual Mix Room over Headphones plugin, designed for monitoring 360-degree Ambisonics B-format audio on regular stereo headphones; and Waves 360° Ambisonics Tools, a combo of both plugins.

Waves Consumer, the consumer division of Waves Audio, announced that it has started selling and shipping its first direct to consumer product. Waves Nx, is a completely new, user-centric listening experience that enables 3D audio on any headphone set with any content. The company also unveiled a website, www.waves.com/nx, where the general public is invited to learn more about 3D audio and purchase Waves Nx for $79.

Earlier in 2016, Waves Audio announced its Nx software technology that applies panoramic audio imaging to stereo headphones, opening the door to applications in virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D mixing and much more. Waves Nx lets users hear the same natural depth, natural reflections, and panoramic imaging heard from speakers in a physical room, but on headphones. Now Waves decided to launch a new Kickstarter campaign, allowing the audio community to get a stake in this innovative technology.

Digital signal processing solutions specialist Waves Audio, confirmed the availability of its new Waves Nx, Virtual Mix Room solution for mixing with headphones. This new acoustics emulation plugin simulates depth, natural reflections, and the stereo image of an actual, physical room, allowing for a “virtual speaker” experience on headphones, allowing mixing even for 5.1 surround on regular stereo headphones.
