MPEG-H Audio Selected to Enhance Brazilian Digital Television with Immersive and Personalized Sound

The SBTVD (Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão Digital / Brazilian Digital Television System) Forum has selected MPEG-H Audio for inclusion as an additional audio system in the ISDB-Tb (Brazil's own digital terrestrial standard) specifications. Fraunhofer IIS and its technology partners EiTV and ATEME have showcased live ISDB-Tb broadcasting using MPEG-H Audio for the first time at the 2019 SET Expo trade show, taking place from August 27 to 29 in São Paulo, Brazil.

Linear Acoustic announced a new file-based and real-time loudness compliance solution. APTO is a complete toolkit to address all the critical stages of loudness compliance throughout the whole broadcast chain, from production to playout, supporting mono to stereo and 7.1 audio formats and implementing all international loudness recommendations, including dialog-based normalization. The new solution targets applications in movie adaptation, radio, streaming and even inflight entertainment systems.

Minnetonka Audio has expanded its research and development team with the hiring of broadcast audio veteran Alessandro Travaglini as Product Manager, Research and Development Group. Travaglini brings 20 years of broadcasting and audio technology experience to the company that will further the efforts for both the Minnetonka and Linear Acoustic lines of software processing solutions.

Linear Acoustic announced a merger with Minnetonka Audio Software during the IBC 2015 show in Amsterdam. The merger was announced as the culmination of a long-discussed plan of cooperation between the two companies, opening new opportunities addressing the full audio content chain, from creation to transmission, as part of the Telos Alliance group.

Following the US market introduction at the 2015 NAB Show, Linear Acoustic is planning the European debut of its MT2000 Multichannel Bitstream Analyzer at IBC 2015. Featuring a full suite of test capabilities in a handheld form factor, the MT2000 allows engineers to analyze and troubleshoot digital audio paths quickly, anywhere inside or outside a facility.
