Following the acquisition by entrepreneur David Sheriff of the prestigious audio equipment brand Parasound, in December 2022, the company is confirming a series of appointments. Early in his tenure as Parasound's new owner, David Sheriff made a commitment to the company's legendary designer, John Curl, to bring more of his new ideas to the fore. To accelerate this process, Sheriff has hired Darren Myers as Vice President of Research and Development.

An All-JFET Amplifier: Exploring Modern JFETs Circuits

This article describes the design and performance of a high-quality DC-coupled all-JFET amplifier. The circuit was inspired by John Curl and Erno Borbely designs and was built with readily available junction-gate field-effect transistor (JFETs) from Linear Systems. The input stage is the the complementary JFET differential pair, the second stage is symmetrical differential amplifier with two pairs of opposite polarity JFETs, and the output stage is a complementary source follower. Parasound has introduced the HINT 6, an improved version of its popular Halo Integrated Amplifier. The new HINT 6 features a Burr-Brown volume control with easy-to-read front panel display. It also adds an upgraded USB receiver with plug and play functionality for Windows and Mac, a second optical input, increased phono gain, greater channel separation, and some pleasing refinements to its appearance.
