Rion Acquires Norsonic and Parent Company Scantek

The sound and vibration industry continues to consolidate. Norsonic, Scantek’s parent company, has been acquired by Rion. Norsonic and Rion are both established sound & vibration equipment manufacturers, the first founded and based in Norway, and the second based in Japan. As a leading provider in solutions for sound and vibration measurement instrumentation Scantek sells and supports both Norsonic’s and Rion’s products, as well as other product lines, including DataKustik, in the North American market.

Scantek, a leading company in sound and vibration measuring equipment sales, service and calibration, announced the appointment of Ed Okorn as President, assuming the responsibilities of president from Steve Marshall who has held the position for the past nine years. Marshall has agreed to continue his tenure by overseeing the re-accreditation of the Scantek Calibration Lab. Ed Okorn moves to Scantek from GRAS-Sound & Vibration where he was General Manager for North America since 2017.

Scantek, a wholly owned subsidiary of Norsonic AS, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2015. Combining sound and vibration instrumentation sales, service, rental and calibration, Scantek is also recognized by its accredited Scantek Calibration Laboratory for microphones, sound level meters and acoustical measurement instrumentation.
