The Ultra builds upon the affordable and highly reviewed PecanPi Streamer by adding a 5” touchscreen, built-in RCA connectors, and moving all of the connections to the back of the device.

Swiss manufacturer Merging Technologies has signaled two major anniversaries for the company by introducing major product releases. The most respected of all digital audio workstations, Pyramix celebrates 25 years with a major software release that improves its Dolby Atmos workflow, introduces new packs and prices, and a new activation system. And because Merging Technologies is also celebrating its 30th anniversary, the company announced a major new release of Ovation, the company's orchestration solution for live shows, now offering compatibility with Flux and Dolby as Renderer Partners.

The Road to USB4 ...and a New USB Audio Device Class!

This year, I was really looking forward to meeting with the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), the support organization for the advancement and adoption of USB technology, and discuss their projects for the USB4 Specification, the really big, gigantic update story on that front (at least in consumer electronics) since CES last year. The USB-IF announced the publication of the latest and greatest USB4 specification in September 2019, offering a major update to the USB architecture that complements and builds upon the existing USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 architectures. McIntosh Now Offers MCT500 SACD/CD Transport with Front Panel USB Input

McIntosh announced their new MCT500 SACD/CD Transport. The new transport has been designed to replay SACD/CD discs, plus a wide range of audio formats stored on USB flash drives and user-generated CD and DVD Data discs. All common disc types can be played on the MCT500, including SACD, CD, CD-R/RW and DVD-R. In addition, popular file formats such as AAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD (up to DSD128), FLAC, MP3, WMA and WAV (up to 24-bit/192kHz) WMA can be played from discs and USB drives.
