That’s one of the key takeaways from a new report released by Futuresource Consulting’s pro audio team. On the positive side, the overall segment continues to grow, thanks to the strong momentum experienced by professional audio digital mixing consoles in touring and rental, broadcast, and installed commercial applications.

Solid State Logic Acquired by Audiotonix Group

Audiotonix announced the acquisition of Solid State Logic (SSL) as part of its expanding Group that already includes leading British audio brands DiGiCo, DiGiGrid, Calrec and Allen & Heath. The deal, which was concluded December 20, 2017, brings together the top flight of the world’s mixing consoles companies. Peter Gabriel, the majority shareholder in Solid State Logic, becomes an investor in Audiotonix as part of the transaction.

At IBC 2016 (8-13 September) there be will one of the strongest showings ever for audio-over-IP network technologies and IP interoperability efforts, now extending also into broadcast and video production infrastructures. Multiple companies involved in the RAVENNA/AES67 efforts are promoting demonstrations and introducing new products at their own booths, as well as participating in the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) and Alliance of IP Media Solutions (AIMS) IP Interoperability Zone.

InfoComm 2016 was an important opportunity for the AVnu Alliance to reinforce the work being done around IEEE 802.1 Audio Video Bridging (AVB) and Time Sensitive Network (TSN) standards, with new companies joining the consortium, introduction of new reference platforms and tools, and Cisco finally introducing AVB-enabled switches. More importantly, Coveloz promoted a demonstration of deterministic network control of AES67 audio transport running over an Ethernet AVB foundation.
