Sennheiser Acquires Majority Stake in VR/AR Audio Software Company Dear Reality

Sennheiser has taken a majority sharehold in Dear Reality GmbH. The German company specialized in spatial audio algorithms and VR/AR audio software will continue to operate as a separate company based in Düsseldorf and Dear Reality confirms that its existing customers will be able to rely on existing dearVR products, while looking forward to new joint VR/AR workflows developed in collaboration with Sennheiser. Uwe Cremering, responsible for AMBEO Immersive Audio at Sennheiser, will support the company as a third CEO alongside founders Achim Fell and Christian Sander.

Solid State Logic Joins Sennheiser's AMBEO for VR Partnership Program

At NAB 2019, Sennheiser and Solid State Logic (SSL) have announced their cooperation within the framework of the AMBEO for VR partnership program. Solid State Logic’s S500, S300 and TCR System T broadcast mixing consoles will now feature onboard AMBEO A-B conversion for the Sennheiser AMBEO VR Mic. The AMBEO VR Microphone is an ideal tool for providing the 3D audio basis in immersive audio productions. The signals from the Ambisonics microphone can now directly be fed into SSL’s System T consoles.

Schoeps Introduces Mono Upmix and Double MS Plug-Ins Distributed by Plugin Alliance

German microphone manufacturer Schoeps announced a new set of two software plug-ins which will be an ideal complement for creative microphone use, now available via the online software distributor Plugin Alliance. The first is the Double MS plugin, which decodes a Double MS microphone setup to a stereophonic signal. Available for AAX, VST3 and AU formats, this free plug-in takes 3 microphone signals and provides a 2.0 Stereo or 5.0 Surround output using an algorithm developed by Swiss audio processing specialist Illusonic. The second is the Mono Upmix plugin that turns a mono signal into a pleasantly open sounding stereophonic or LCR signal.
