Zoom Unveils 32-bit H1 XLR Handy Recorder that Doubles as USB-C Interface

Zoom Corporation announced another great product for field recording... and much more. The new Zoom H1 XLR Handy Recorder is a perfect design that ditches the built-in microphones and focuses on professional audio, 32-bit floating point, ultra-high-dynamic-range recording - no gain adjustments needed! Perfect to work with shotgun or lavalier microphones and even line level sources. But the compact device is also a versatile USB-C audio interface when we need one.

British software company Audiomovers has introduced Web Transmitter, a software extension to the company's ListenTo software suite, which allows users to stream, listen to and record high-resolution PCM multichannel audio remotely and in real time. Web Transmitter is a simplified, web-based version of the ListenTo app, which launches straight from a browser.

In a surprise announcement, TASCAM launched its new Sonicview Recording Mixer line available as either the TASCAM Sonicview 16XP or TASCAM Sonicview 24XP models. Both units incorporate state-of-the-art technology and a new multi-screen user interface called VIEW (Visual Interactive Ergonomic Workflow) to allow easy operation and control of all system parameters using completely customizable touch screens, user-definable buttons, and intuitive control software.

The Bluetooth LE Audio set of specifications, introducing the LC3 codec as the mandatory option for wireless audio streaming, is an important evolution compared to the current default SBC codec. Nevertheless, unlike the current Bluetooth Classic A2DP profile that specifies optional audio codecs, LE Audio didn't offer any options. A recent article in the Fraunhofer IIS blog confirms that a new specification is under development to allow support for the LC3plus high-resolution audio codec.

NTi Audio announced its latest generation handheld measurement solution, the XL3 Acoustic Analyzer. Pro Audio Technology (PRO) announced it is now shipping the ALC-3316, Amplified Loudspeaker Controller along with new companion Configurator software. First seen at CEDIA Expo 2019, the ALC-3316 provides 8-balanced analog audio inputs and 9-channels of amplification for up to 1,800W of power, and includes built-in matrix bass management, 160 parametric EQ filters, and loudspeaker processing. The software interface makes the deployment of surround sound or distributed audio systems easy by integrating intelligent predefined DSP filters.
