The patented “Tite-Shield” design in these cables places the conductors in parallel, with each of the four pairs isolated from the others by dense triple-layer shields. “These cables isolate network noise to minimize that loss and provide sound quality that approaches the clarity of a local solid-state drive,” states Wireworld designer David Salz.
The official network cable categories (ie. Cat5/6/7/8) only include twisted pair cables, so these non-twisted twinax cables cannot be rated by those test specifications. However, it is interesting to note that the 100Gb/s (QSFP+) Ethernet cables used in internet server installations are also twinax designs.
The Series 8 upgrades of these cables involved increasing the density of the triple-layer shields and the proprietary Composilex 3 insulation. The three cables in the series differ only in their conductor materials. The Chroma 8 is yellow with Oxygen-free copper conductors and costs $15/meter + termination. Starlight 8 is red with silver-clad OFC conductors, priced at $60/meter + termination; and Platinum Starlight 8 is silver with conductors made of the most conductive metal available, Ohno Continuous Cast solid silver of 7N (99.99999%) purity, priced at $600/meter + termination.
USB Cables
Wireworld also introduced flat USB-C cables, expanding its Series 8 Starlight and Chroma USB Type A and mini USB cables already launched earlier in 2019. These flat cables utilize Wireworld’s exclusive Uni-Path conductor geometry, Composilex 3 insulation and noise-absorbing power conductors, providing extreme immunity to external noise and interference. The Chroma cables are yellow and their 28AWG signal conductors are made of oxygen-free copper. The signal conductors in the red Starlight 8 cables are also 28AWG OFC, but they are coated with a generous layer of silver.
The new Starlight 8 and Chroma 8 USB cables also use exclusive noise-absorbing power conductors with double-layer shields that isolate them from the signal conductors. These cables are available in lengths of 0.6m, 1m, and 2m. Pricing for 1m USB-C cables goes from $60 (Chroma 8) to $180 (Starlight 8).
