Steinberg announced the immediate availability of the latest update for Cubasis 3, the mobile DAW app that brings the power of a fully-featured studio software to any mobile device and tablet, including Apple’s latest iPad Pro super-computer. Cubasis 3.3 now supports remote control of Cubasis via hardware controllers, boasts Audio Unit Multi Output, offers sidechaining capabilities, and includes many other useful additions and improvements.

A complete studio in our pocket was always a far-fetched concept until Apple launched the iPhone and more importantly the iPad, which quickly became a favorite platform on studios and the world of live performance, allowing incredible hands-on control. Of course, many similar machines using Android later allowed to run limited versions of the music apps, but with the recent generation of Apple’s A series and M series processors, these mobile devices suddenly became more powerful than most laptop and desktop computers already used in the studio for DAW software.

Cubasis 3 allows anyone to capture music ideas, record audio, and work with all the features that professionals expect from a fully-featured DAW software, only faster and with the advantages of tactile control, which for some operations - such has real time performance control and spatial audio mixing - is the preferred way to work. Cubasis 3 created a unique platform for performing, recording, mixing and sharing music, anywhere, on iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones or tablets, making it one of the most intuitive and complete audio and MIDI DAWs available for mobile devices.

The latest Steinberg Cubasis 3.3 update takes music production app for both iOS and Android devices to a whole new level. After extending usability by adding keyboard and mouse support in the previous update, Cubasis 3.3 now connects to external hardware controllers to control every aspect of Cubasis. This type of remote-control support is enabled through MIDI Learn, Mackie Control (MCU) and Human User Interface (HUI) protocols, allowing users to map external control elements like rotary knobs, keys and sliders to the control elements within Cubasis.

Audio Unit Multi Output is an additional feature exclusively available for iOS devices. By supporting multiple outputs of instruments, users can now assign instrument sounds to individual outputs and route these to separate channels within Cubasis 3.3, allowing for more flexibility when processing the sounds.

By adding side-chaining capabilities, users of Cubasis 3 can also easily apply sidechain compression to achieve the popular audio ducking effect or maintain a clear mix in the lower end of their music productions. Another iOS exclusive feature, the extended MIDI routing options now available in Cubasis 3.3 delivers powerful internal routing across all tracks, letting MIDI effects control both audio and instruments, such as manipulating vocals with the Waves Tune RT in-app purchase.

Alongside these most significant new features, Cubasis 3.3 also includes many user-requested improvements in both of its iOS and Android versions. As Marketing Manager Lars Slowak explains, “With Cubasis 3.3, we’ve added many highly requested pro-grade features. Here the team once again excelled in making these quickly and easily accessible so that our customers can continue to retain their focus on making music.”

Cubasis 3.3 is now available through the App Store and Google Play Store. This update is free for Cubasis 3 users. Cubasis 3 is available for download for 54.99 euros including German VAT, with multiple promotions on selected in-app purchases.
