May 8 2024, 14:00
PreSonus, now a Fender brand, launched a new line of audio interfaces, available in four models: Quantum ES 2, Quantum ES 4, Quantum HD 2, and Quantum HD 8. These four models are designed to empower creators with newly-redesigned MAX-HD preamps, class-leading converters, front-facing instrument inputs, and more high-performance specifications suitable for musicians, home studios and professionals.
PreSonus always was a strong contender in this space, and it offered a wide range of audio interfaces from simple two-channel, compact units, all the way to multichannel 19" rack models intended for recording. With the new Quantum series, the company creates a new affordable reference in two different form-factors, all of which also offer Auto Gain from any of the inputs, making recording hassle-free - a clear market trend.

All four Quantum interfaces are modern USB-C designs with a high performance signal flow, benefiting from custom low-latency drivers and low-noise converters. The all-new MAX-HD digitally-controlled microphone preamplifiers are one of the highlights, rigorously redesigned and featuring +75 dB of gain range. The front-facing instrument inputs are labeled as "Co-Developed with Fender, engineered for guitarists by industry-leading experts" in an effort to both signal the fact that PreSonus is now owned by Fender, an also appeal to musicians.

Another major factor is that all four Quantum audio interfaces are bundled with PreSonus professional recording software, including 6 or 12 months of Studio One+ subscription, with full access to Studio One, add-ons, and more. And there's the Universal Control App, allowing for full control of the units, DSP monitor mixer plus metering, directly from a mobile device, desktop, or tablet. Using this app, users can monitor and stream mixes with latency via Loopback.

The tabletop PreSonus Quantum ES models are 24-bit/192kHz -capable interfaces with easy DAW integration for musicians and audio creators. The ES 2 is a 2x2 inputs/outputs, dual USB design, while the ES 4 is a 4x4, dual USB design. The HD models are rackmount multichannel designs, for 32-bit / 192 kHz recording, with 124dB of dynamic range. The compact HD 2 unit is capable of 20 x 24 inputs/outputs, while the HD 4 expands to 26 x 30 inputs/outputs. Guitarists who use a Quantum HD interface will benefit from front-panel reamping outputs.

The HD 2 model features 16 channels of ADAT Optical input (up to 48kHz) plus stereo S/PDIF I/O, two balanced 1/4" TRS main outputs, plus two balanced 1/4" TRS line outputs and 1 high-power headphone output. The Quantum HD 8 expands connectivity via the same ADAT optical inputs, with 8 microphone preamps and direct outputs. Using the Universal Control app, the Quantum HD 8 also enables speaker switching for two sets of monitors. Two high-power headphone outputs also allow flexible monitoring.

All four of the new products within the range come with access to PreSonus’ DAW via Studio One+. The ES-series models come with 6-months of access to Studio One+, while the HD-series comes with a full 12-months of Studio One+ Hybrid, awarding users with a perpetual license of Studio One Pro at the end of their year.

Prices in USD: Quantum ES 2 $229.99; Quantum ES 4 $329.99; Quantum HD 2 $499.99; and Quantum HD 8 $999.99
