Danish amplifier module specialists Pascal A/S, announced the release of the new Pascal U-PRO Series. This significant expansion of Pascal’s product line features extremely high voltage rails providing unique dynamic power ratings, at a competitive price to dynamic power ratio. The design meets the specific commercial requirements for self-powered, lightweight, portable PA and ultra-compact high output fixed install cabinets
Offering both single and asymmetrically rated 2-way power channels, with the smallest form factor and highest power density, the new Pascal U-PRO Series power amplifier modules are also a competitive solution for self-powered hi-fi speakers, professional studio monitors and low profile MI applications.
According to Pascal, due to its extremely high voltage rails, relative to its RMS power output the U-PRO series features RMS ratings of 280 W, and the modules can deliver ultra-short bursts of 500 W RMS or 1000 W peak power. At a lower cost point than normal market expectations for such power capabilities, these are optimal performance characteristics for lightweight portable PA and ultra-compact, high output fixed install cabinet designs.
The U-PRO2 module has a 280 W + 100 W two channel asymmetrical power rating for 2-way loudspeaker cabinet designs, while the U-PRO1 provides a single channel of 280 W – into 4 ohms. At just 38 x 70 x 177 mm (1.5 x 2.5 x 7.0 in), the U-PRO’s performance characteristics uniquely match the power requirements for cost effective, high SPL self-powered portable PA. This rapidly developing product class employs cost optimized drivers that can handle high SPL peaks but have limited long-term power handling capabilities. U-PRO’ s singular dynamic power configuration delivers high, non-clipping, short power bursts of up to 500 W and peaks of up to 1000 W.
In both background music and ancillary fixed install applications, the U-PRO is also optimally specified for self-powered, ultra-compact and visually unobtrusive, high output loudspeaker designs with good sonic qualities. The amplifier’s residual noise floor is inaudible in the lowest ambient noise environments, such as theaters, concert halls and auditoria.
Pascal’ s UREC PFC (Power Factor Correction) power supply technology enables universal AC mains operation, delivering consistent, regulated power worldwide and eliminating susceptibility to local power related reliability issues. The U-PRO Series also festures very high system efficiency, minimizing the requirement for heat sinks and cooling, and contributing to the amplifier’s long-term reliability.
Supporting modern connectivity requirements, an auxiliary power feed is available for integrated DSP, network or analog I/O boards. Readouts of protect/mute, temperature and clip signals are accessible for DSP and network or wireless control implementations, and I/O stages. The U-PRO Series features ultra low standby power consumption for EuP2013 and green energy star compliance, with an Auto Standby/Wake-up feature with selectable time settings, making the module ready to handle future regulatory requirements.
Speaking on the launch of U-PRO Series, Senior VP of Business Development, Peter Frentz says: “Pascal is at the forefront into the future requirements of the professional audio market, in terms of the specific application demands for self-powered amplification. Our dedicated designs deliver a performance premium not available from general-purpose, commodity products. Our advanced engineering and understanding of the specific performance requirements for distinct applications allows us to design a product like the U-PRO series, able to deliver optimum performance specifications for two distinct applications that demand those same specifications for different ends. It is this vision and engineering premium that sets Pascal apart, and makes us the ‘go to’ supplier of amplifiers for self-powered loudspeakers, enabling manufacturers to achieve ever increasing performance, efficiencies, faster time to market and cost competitiveness.”
