Palmer Introduces MONICON Series Analog Monitor Controllers

July 22 2025, 01:30
Palmer, the musician-oriented and problem-solving products brand from the German group Adam Hall, just announced a brand-new series of monitor controllers, an always-essential solution for any home and project studio as well as audio enthusiasts. These new analog monitor controllers allow precise, zero-latency monitoring at home or in the studio. The Palmer MONICON Series offers passive, active, and hybrid models with well-thought-out features.

An absolutely clear-sounding signal is a must in any studio, and monitor controllers seat in a critical position in the signal flow, making it possible to configure the sound, route different sources to different monitors, and regulate the monitoring level. Plus, a studio controller should allow communication with the musicians playing in a separate recording room. The MONICON series represents Palmer's next generation of its existing controllers, completely redesigned and now available in four compact formats, with a clear focus on intuitive operation, uncompromising audio quality, and fully analog signal routing.

The MONICON series is aimed at musicians, producers, and sound engineers who want to control their studio monitoring efficiently and without digital detours, from space-saving home setups to professional studios. The series comprises four models: MONICON S, MONICON M, MONICON L, and the MONICON XL. The four models have been developed from scratch and offer a modern design with a high-quality feel, practical functions, and a completely analog, latency-free signal path for an unadulterated sound image.

The MONICON S is an ultra-compact, passive volume control with RCA connections, a large volume knob, and a mono switch – ideal for slim desktop or media setups. The next model in the range, MONICON M, offers additional features such as dedicated mono, dim, and mute switches, flexible inputs and outputs (XLR/TRS combo or 3.5 mm jack), and a larger housing in project studio format.

The MONICON L is an active/passive studio controller with three stereo inputs (including Bluetooth stereo streaming with independent volume control), two stereo outputs, and an additional mono/sub output. A separate headphone output with its own volume control, input/output selector switch with status LEDs, and PFL function round off the feature set.

And the star in the range is the MONICON XL, a complete studio solution for professional applications with talkback function, a large LED VU meter, three monitor outputs, and two headphone outputs with separate volume control for precise monitoring control in larger studio setups. The MONICON XL features three analog stereo inputs, one S/PDIF input, and outputs for three monitor pairs, each with its own volume controller for level calibration. A further mono summed full-range output is also available for connecting either a mono monitor or a subwoofer.

The Palmer MONICON XL makes it possible for the user to configure different sources to different monitors and to regulate the monitoring level with precision. An exclusive highlight is its correlation meter, which displays the phase difference between a stereo signal's left and right channels. This facilitates the quick and simple discovery of mono-compatibility errors in mixes. The controller is also customizable to personal work style.
"With the new MONICON series, we have redesigned our monitor controllers, which have been tried and tested on the market for years, from the ground up and consistently developed them further," explains Viktor Wiesner, Senior Product Manager, Pro Audio. "Our customers receive four customized solutions for their individual monitoring needs – with the highest audio quality and the usual robust workmanship. Designed & Engineered in Germany."

All Palmer MONICON monitor controllers have a clearly structured user interface that enables fast and intuitive operation. To fit the look of any studio and room environment, the four models are all available in black and silver versions. All are housed in robust steel chassis, with wood-colored side panels. The new series is available now from specialist dealers.
