Martin Audio has announced a new subwoofer to its line up with the introduction of SXH218 - a hybrid passive subwoofer with two extremely high-powered 4.5" coil, 18" drivers. The subwoofer will be a central part of the company's upcoming UK Open Day demos in March at its British headquarters in High Wycombe. The company also announced the availability of GLL loudspeaker measurement data compatible with EASE Focus 3 for many of its point source loudspeakers.
The ideal companion for Martin Audio's new WPC optimized line array in low end heavy applications or high performance permanent installations such as nightclubs, the SXH218 subwoofer is already set to be a popular choice amongst its rental partners and installers. "It looks destined to be the fastest selling subwoofer we've introduced in some time. We've already received significant pre-orders from a key rental partner in the US; it's already been installed into a new nightclub in Miami, and we're pretty confident that when we showcase the subwoofer at our UK Open Days in March to our European partners that we will sell out of our initial production runs," says Martin Audio Managing Director, Dom Harter.
Founded by audio engineer David Martin in 1971, Martin Audio pioneered the use of all-horn-loaded bass designs in world-class touring loudspeaker systems for groups such as Pink Floyd, ELP and Supertramp.
The subwoofer can achieve an impressive max SPL of 148dB and is powered by either one channel of an iK42 - from the company's own iKON amplifier range - or for full output a bridged pair of channels. The SXH218 will ship from April 2018.
Martin Audio Open Day
Building on the success of their previous series of Open Days in September 2017, Martin Audio is planning a further series of three Open Days at their High Wycombe HQ. These will take place between March 13-15, 2018.
Since the company will not be attending Prolight+Sound 2018 in Frankfurt, they see this as an ideal opportunity for rental companies, FOH and monitor engineers - as well as other members of the touring community - to better understand the product range and get to enjoy extensive listening in relaxed surroundings.
The product selection will include many of the company's leading solutions for a wide range of rental staging applications. These will include Wavefront Precision optimized line arrays, iKON amplifiers, XE and LE Series monitors, as well as the hugely popular CDD-LIVE and BlacklineX.
As Dom Harter explains, "When we staged our first series of Open Days back in September we were overwhelmed by the response. Therefore when it came to scheduling a similar event in the Spring it was logical to extend it to six sessions covering an extra day, to give our customers greater flexibility. The event takes on additional significance given the success of our new live sound portfolio over the past 12 months."
In addition to sound demos, the open days will also include tours of the factory. Registration is open at https://martin-audio.com/events/uk-open-day
EASE Focus 3 Compatible Measurement Data
Meanwhile, Martin Audio has announced the availability of GLL loudspeaker measurement data compatible with EASE Focus 3 for many of its point source loudspeakers. EASE Focus 3 from AFMG Technologies is an acoustic simulation program for 3D modeling that enables the user to define audience areas, section views, and receiver locations flexibly, while calculating sound coverage and frequency response immediately.
Dan Orton, Martin Audio's Product Group Manager, explains: "Martin Audio's runaway success with the likes of CDD series and BlacklineX has accelerated our installation market share, and now that we and our customers have the ability to model our point source boxes in a 3D environment it will help ensure that this trend continues."
The GLL loudspeaker data compatible with both EASE and EASE Focus is available to download from the Martin Audio.
