M&K Sound Debuts Slimline D Series Home Loudspeakers

November 2 2022, 10:10
Danish company Miller & Kreisel announced a new, high performance range of slim, lifestyle-friendly loudspeaker series, designed for today's living spaces. The new M&K Sound D Series launches with the new D85 and D95 models, designed to sound superior in any stereo home audio configuration, and also  bridge the gap between the brand's dedicated Home Cinema speakers and the entry level M Series.
Available in elegant, white, black & grey non reflecting finish with color matching magnetized grilles, the new D Series is voiced to match with the rest of the M&K product range. According to M&K Sound, this new discreet and design-conscious D Series of loudspeakers was optimized for placement on walls, on stands, inside bookshelves or flanking flat-panel displays, being truly décor-friendly music or TV loudspeakers.

Renowned for its professional systems, the Danish company was able to design the smaller D85 and the larger D95 loudspeakers to offer incredible volume intensity, yet accurate and transparent music and film sound reproduction, defying their small dimensions. "The D series is capable of high-output, profoundly accurate and non-fatiguing audio, encapsulating all the hallmarks of M&K Sound’s entire product range," says Per Becher, chief executive officer of M&K Sound.

"With our history of producing reference loudspeakers for the enjoyment of music and film, it seemed natural to offer our customers a chance to hear M&K’s acclaimed sound from smaller speaker enclosures around the home. The D Series speakers are a beautiful complement to a stylish home and, in terms of performance, punch well above their size and weight," he adds.

Both the D85 and D95 include M&K Sound’s signature 1.1-inch coated silk dome, low-compression tweeters, the same found in the company’s iconic and reference 150 Series loudspeakers. These Danish-built, expertly crafted tweeters enable unrivaled neutrality and sonic detail, and seamless timbre-matching across all the company’s loudspeakers. The woofers are 5.25" and 6.5" drivers, respectively, both using a polypropelyne cone with inverted dust cap.

Each D Series loudspeaker has an integrated keyhole mount and 100 mm x 100 mm VESA-compatible interface for easy fixing to a wall or matching hardware. The low-profile wall mount and recessed binding posts on the rear allow for a minimal 2mm clearance from the wall.

The D95 boasts 91dB of sensitivity, producing exceptional dynamics from a tiny enclosure. With a slim depth profile of 3.74 inches and front fascia only measuring a compact 11.81 (H) x 9.45 (W) inches, the larger of the two models will remain inconspicuous on a living room or kitchen wall. With a 90Hz – 20kHz frequency response, the D95 can produce a rich and fully-rounded middle- and low-end response.
The D85 retains the same narrow depth of 3.74 inches as the D95, but only measures 9.65 (H) x 7.68 (W) inches in front-on profile. A 95Hz – 20kHz frequency response and 89dB sensitivity combine to ensure a high-impact and dynamic listening experience around the home or in a dedicated AV room.

The D95 and D85 incorporate a second order, phase-focused crossover frequency of 1.6 kHz supporting a smooth and imperceptible transition between tweeter and woofer. Both models can deliver extraordinary low-end detail independently, but there is always an option to pair the loudspeakers with any of M&K Sound’s compact V+ Series of powerful and articulate subwoofers.

For almost five decades, M&K Sound has designed the finest loudspeakers for music and home theater, building on a truly unique heritage that transcends the traditional boundaries between professional and consumer audio, combining performance, reliability and value for money. Available now, the M&K Sound D85 and D95 have suggested retail prices of $649 and $799, respectively.
