L-Acoustics Introduces Kara II Line Array with Flexible Directivity

For three decades, L-Acoustics has consistently developed pragmatic audio solutions that enable audio professionals and artists to elevate the audience experience. For a decade, the Kara best-selling line source array has been the star of countless live performances and permanent installs the globe over. At NAMM 2020, L-Acoustics announced the new Kara II modular line source, with the addition of Panflex, giving Kara four-in-one directivity: one box handily covers any audience geometry.
  The success of Kara has never ceased to increase, earning the loudspeaker best-seller status at L-Acoustics and in the professional audio industry. 2019 saw record-breaking sales for the lightweight yet powerful enclosure from the French company, with 45,000 units sold. And in 2020, in a nod to the wide audience of Kara owners around the globe, L-Acoustics will make available a kit to upgrade existing Kara with Panflex, the technology that L-Acoustics created in 2014 for the K2 line-array touring system.

Now, Kara II morphs to fit any design, offering consistent coverage and SPL distribution with precise focus in four different directivity patterns: 70° or 110° symmetrical and 90° asymmetrical, steering to either the left or right. In its 70° configuration, Kara II packs a full 2 dB more than in 110°. And the original Kara was already a class-leading design in terms of SPL per enclosure, and SPL per meter, competing as a dual 8” design with most existing dual 10” designs. With the increased SPL, Kara II jumps further ahead.

When we introduced Panflex to the industry, our clients told us this was the only thing missing from Kara. We listened, and the new Kara II brings our medium-format line array into a new era of added directivity and improved polar stability.”

Kara II for rental ships in March 2020. Kara IIi for install will ship later in 2020. The Kara IIi for installation will feature a totally new enclosure, allowing to hang more units and allowing to hang a screen in the front of the enclosure, for projection mapping, or applying custom colors so that the sound system blends perfectly with the environment. The Panflex fix can be added to any original Kara element, turning it into a Kara II unit with all the same features and benefits.
