The Li.LAC Microphone Disinfector answers that question with a fast, simple and effective product that uses controlled exposure to ultraviolet light (UV-C), to kill over 99% of bacteria and viruses on microphone surfaces, metal grilles and the windscreens underneath. This approach, uses frequency-adjusted UV light (wavelength: 254nm) that has been tested and proven by the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Microbiology and Infection Prevention of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). The university has conducted comprehensive scientific studies to evaluate the effectiveness of Li.LAC, and a disinfection level of 99.99% for surface disinfection inside the solution has been certified by the independent, accredited laboratory Opsytec Dr. Gröbel GmBH.
Designed by live event touring professionals, the Li.LAC Microphone Disinfector is rugged and road-ready in a professional 19" 3U rackmount format. The Li.LAC is manufactured in Germany, supported by a team of technicians and engineers from the sound reinforcement and event industry who were unable to return to work due to the pandemic. Li.LAC can be conveniently located in an equipment room where staff or volunteers can disinfect microphones while performing other duties or packed in a road case to travel with other equipment.
Its simple operation speeds a job that’s grown even more important in today’s world. The drawer supports up to three hand-held microphones or several lavalier or headset microphones, headsets or beltpacks. Close the drawer and press “Start”. Disinfection completes in twelve minutes or less, allowing a full complement of microphones to be processed in a typical working day.
This is a required solution to protect both staff as well as clients. Inspired by available UV sterilizers used with mobile electronic devices and now widely adopted since the COVID-19 pandemic (ultraviolet-C), iSEMcon designed the Li.LAC Microphone Disinfector to work much like a microwave oven. It will not operate unless the drawer is fully closed and it will switch off as soon as the drawer gets opened, thus maintaining operator safety at all times while assuring users of a complete disinfection process.
"Even before the pandemic, I’ve always tried to keep our microphones as clean as possible because the artist puts that microphone right to their mouth. So even before COVID I would have used the Li.LAC immediately. But now it is more important than ever!,” says Lewe Redlin, monitor engineer for soprano superstar Sarah Brightman.
