House of Marley announced the Liberate Air, the brand’s first truly wireless earbuds designed as an eco-conscious alternative within the plastic-driven market. Crafted using bamboo, natural wood fiber composite made from sawdust, recyclable aluminum, and REWIND fabric composed of recycled plastic bottles, the Liberate Air earbuds also provide a sustainable sound experience combining standard 5.6mm dynamic drivers with Bluetooth 5 in IPX4 Rated housings with touch controls.
A category first for House of Marley, the new Liberate Air true wireless earbuds have a 7-hour onboard battery life, with an additional 25 hours of charging in their USB-C case, perfect for long flights and extended listening sessions. Designed for active lifestyles with water and sweat resistant materials, the earbuds are a perfect companion on outdoor activities and while on the move, keeping the user connected anywhere. They also feature sensor-activated touch control technology for easy use during any activity.
Thanks to an updated Bluetooth 5 platform, the House of Marley Liberate Air earbuds offer a seamless pairing experience. After completing the initial pairing, the earbuds will automatically pair upon opening the charging case. Tap touch control on any of the earbuds allows management of music, calls and activating Siri or Google Assistant on the connected device. With the ability to use each earbud independently, switching roles into mono mode with the right earbud can conserve battery life and offer awareness of the external environment. The built-in stereo voice communication system allows users to hear and be heard clearly during calls, without the need to reach out to the smartphone.
“The truly wireless market has become a prominent one and we wanted to ensure we provided a sustainably crafted alternative using consciously sourced and recycled materials,” explains House of Marley Director of Product Development, Josh Poulsen. “We observed the market focusing on areas for improvement and found the opportunity to propel battery life to 9 hours within true wireless earbuds by using efficient chipsets and designed the Liberate Air to offer a seamless pairing experience. ”
The materials used in the Liberate Air earbuds - a trademark of House of Marley - result in a truly original design using bamboo, natural wood fiber composite, aluminum and REWIND, which is a fabric composed of 100% recycled PET. Crafted from one of the world’s fastest growing plants, CNC-milled bamboo provides a modern look that’s rooted in a highly renewable and easy to maintain natural resource. Bamboo also has a higher compressive strength than wood and a tensile strength that rivals steel. The REWIND fabric is weaved from recycled materials to create a durable, high quality product. It is constructed from a distinctive blend of 30% reclaimed organic cotton, 30% reclaimed hemp and 40% recycled PET. Recycled PET is largely made from plastic bottles and is used on the case and earbud housings.
These consciously sourced materials and the Liberate Air earbuds craftsmanship reflect House of Marley's mission as the first audio brand to craft products that include sustainable materials and contribute to global reforestation. Also according to the company, purchasing the Liberate Air contributes to the planting of trees through House of Marley’s Project Marley environmental give-back platform. "Through donations to non- profit organization One Tree Planted, House of Marley supports global reforestation in an effort to bring awareness to the consumption and waste of the plastics-driven consumer electronics market with 186,000 trees planted to date," the company states.
Interchangeable recycled silicone eartips ensure a tailored, comfortable fit and IPX4 rating provides for sweat-proof functionality, allowing for active use from work to the gym. Also important for eco-conscious users, the USB-C charging technology allows users to use any USB-C charger or accessory.
