Global Specialties Announces GNV-100 Series Sound Level Meters

Global Specialties announced the release of its GNV-100 Series of Sound Level Meters. Equipped with frequency weighting selection, these sound level meters precisely target the frequency range of the required application. Users can choose A weighting, mimicking the perceptible frequencies of the human ear, such as for OSHA compliance and noise ordinance enforcement, or choose C weighting, suited for audio engineers and factory environments that deal with substantial bass or low frequency noise. 
 
The new GNV-100 Series of Sound Level Meters includes 3 models. The GNV-100 ($165 MSRP) is a Class 2 device that meets IEC 61672-1 requirements, with a fast and slow time weighting (125 ms or 1000 ms), 60 dB dynamic range and A and C frequency weighting options. AC and DC outputs are available from standard 3.5 mm coaxial socket for use with a frequency analyzer, level recorder, FFT analyzer, etc. The unit features function and battery capacity indicators, analog bar graph and digital display with manual and auto range functionality. The design also includes a tripod mount hole for long term monitoring and the unit includes a windscreen, battery and hard carrying case

The next model is the GNV-101, also a Sound Level Meter with data logging capabilities that meets IEC 61672-1 Class 2 requirements. The larger model is able to record up to 64,000 data points and the recorded data is exportable to Excel via a USB interface. Like the simpler model, the GNV-101 features fast and slow time weighting, 60 dB dynamic range and A and C frequency weighting. AC and DC outputs are also available from standard 3.5 mm coaxial socket for use with a frequency analyzer, level recorder, FFT analyzer, etc. Function indicator are similar, with analog bar graph and digital display and manual and auto range functionality. The meter features a tripod mount hole for long term monitoring and includes windscreen, battery and hard carrying case, selling for $285 (MSRP).

The third model is the GNV-102 ($270.00 MSRP), a Sound Level Calibrator that meets IEC 60942 Class 2 requirements and is capable of calibrating 1/2- and 1-inch microphones at 94 dB and 114 dB. The GNV-102 comes with a printed manual, soft carrying case and adapter to allow for the diferent microphones.

The high dynamic range of 60 dB ensures in both the GNV100 and 101 models allows for accurate max and peak measurements. The GNV-100 provides outstanding performance at a great price, while the premium model, GNV-101 also includes software for data capture and export. Both sound level meters should be calibrated before and after every use with the GNV-102 Sound Level Calibrator for increased reliability of data collection.
