Erzetich is an audio company from Slovenia with a sense for mystique and bold designs, featuring an already respectable portfolio of high end headphones and dedicated electronics. Always featuring unique material choices and a distinct heavy-metal-inspired aesthetics, Erzetich is now launching its lightest dynamic headphones, the Thalia. The first of its kind product from the brand, the new portable headphones are crafted from quality wood and durable metals.
Launched in 2012, Erzetich was created by Blaž Erzetič, combining his knowledge of electronics, acoustics and design, to create the ultimate in handcrafted amplifiers and headphones for music lovers. The company introduced headphones with a unique design and qualities that appeal directly to hardcore aficionados of personal audio. Adopted by award-winning musicians and producers including Nile Rodgers, Bill Gould of Faith No More and Imogen Heap, the brand's products already include the Phobos and Mania headphone models, with the Thalia being its latest product and first portable design.
Inspired by the goddess of festivity, the Thalia headphones are intended to generate a full, immersive quality sound, whilst still allowing external sound for safety purposes. The innovative design of the Thalia, with its octagonal shape and unique wood design, is reinforced by the choice of Tilla (a rich dark wood) or Salvage (light, recycled spruce), together with other premium materials designed for life, and making the headphones fully serviceable.
The Thalia headphones weigh just 270 grams and are tuned to provide superior quality sound for portable devices including dedicated portable players, smartphones, portable DACs and tablets. The powerful, superior sound quality is guaranteed through the 40mm titanium coated drivers and, cabling which uses silver-plated oxygen-free copper with gold-plated connectors.
"Music is made up of two parts: content and sound. When you play a piece of music on substandard equipment, you do not get to enjoy the entire ensemble. And when you don’t listen to music in its whole sonic glory, you’re missing half of it," states Blaž Erzetič. "Essentially, headphones are the same as stereo speakers and to produce the richest sounds – thick bass, clear sound, less distortion, good soundstage etc – they need an amp. The headphone amplifiers we make are fitted with a double voltage power supply and a high quality input capacitor in the signal path in order to deliver a clear, unimpeded sound. Combine them with our headphones and you'll get a premium listening rig," he adds.
"Every true music lover needs a good headphone system and the ones available to you in our collection right now cover different sound timbres, approaches and a wide price bracket to suit your budget. The first headphone amplifier we built was Bacillus. This is our entry-level headphone amp, but delivers a powerful performance with any impedance headphones. Our next project was Perfidus, a demon of an amp that picks up details you didn’t realize were there. We extended our range with the Bacillus Tilia which looks and sounds warm yet detailed. Our latest project is Deimos, a high-end product and the best headphone amp we have made yet," Blaž explains.
"To achieve precision sound, we use high quality components and handcraft each individual unit. Housings for amplifiers are made from aluminum, and two of them sport aged linden wood (Deimos, and Bacillus Tilia) to give them a vintage, yet sophisticatedly modern look. We use wood cut from the linden tree as it is a symbol of our homeland, Slovenia. This is also the type of wood that is used to make cups for our headphones – dynamic Mania and Thalia as well as the planar magnetic Phobos."
“After the success of our two existing headphone models, we decided to combine the power of these with the convenience of portability. The result is a set of on-ear headphones with a superlative sound, handcrafted style and outstanding quality,” the Erzetich founder says. "We pride ourselves on our work and pay particular attention to detail. Because of this innate need for perfection, every one of our products have been painstakingly challenging to build, but the end results have been worth the effort in the end."
Pre-orders for Thalia will be available until December 15, 2019, at a special pre-order price of 449 Euros (normal price 599 Euros).
