With Spotify promising to evolve its leading music streaming service from its lossy Ogg Vorbis codec to CD-Quality lossless in its new HiFi tier, other music streaming services who have embraced FLAC streaming earlier, are expanding its options to reward existing subscribers and hopefully gain new customers. Deezer expanded its Deezer HiFi tier as a Family package for just $19.99, enabling up to six users to enjoy CD-quality FLAC streaming (1411kbps). For those who never tried Deezer HiFi, there's also a 3-months free offer.
For a small increase ($5), Deezer HiFi users can now add up to 5 additional sub-accounts to their existing HiFi subscription. The total cost of Deezer Family HiFi is $19.99 (US + Canada). Deezer HiFi Family offers CD-quality lossless streaming and exclusive access to HiFi Room and HiFi Gold playlists, plus dedicated customer service. Users can also filter their kids’ access with parental controls and listen to what the people in their Family group like with the new 'Family Mix' feature.
And for those who have never tried Deezer before, the company is offering three months free to Deezer Premium, HiFi or Family subscriptions in the US, UK and Canada. Existing Deezer HiFi users can instantly upgrade to “Family HiFi” and get up to six profiles for just $19.99, each one with its own individual password and its own set of preferences, using smart data, algorithms and editorial recommendations. Deezer also offers Flow, a non stop "radio" based on a proprietary algorithm that serves a unique mix of the favorite tracks and new recommendations in one ever-changing stream for each user.
Deezer HiFi and HiFi Family offers access to 70 million tracks, offline listening and downloads in FLAC quality, with curated recommendations, smart mixes and editorial playlists, including a dedicated "HiFi Room" with exclusive curated high fidelity content. These subscriptions tiers also have access to a dedicated ‘360 by Deezer’ app with tracks in Sony’s new 360 Reality Audio MPEG-H format.
Deezer Family HiFi users can use the service on their mobile devices, desktop app or via any of Deezer’s partner devices from Sony, Sonos, Bang & Olufsen, Xbox, Google Home and Samsung to name just a few. Deezer Family HiFi is now available for existing Deezer HiFi users and will roll out to new users later in 2021.
Deezer currently serves 16 million monthly active users around the world in over 180 countries. The service offers 97% of its music catalog in CD-quality (16-bit/44.1kHz), with more than 70 million songs in total.
