Audeze, the high-end audio headphone manufacturer from California, together with Embody, a company focused on personalized spatial audio technology and HRTF profiles, has launched new features to the Audeze Reveal+ spatial audio plugin. Based on feedback from users over the past few months, the Audeze Reveal+ has been updated (version 1.3.1) to provide an improved reference target response when mixing and mastering with Audeze headphones, in virtually any location.
Reveal+ is the premium edition of the Audeze Reveal plugin introduced in 2018, which applies carefully designed filter presets specific to all the headphone models from Audeze. Reveal+ includes presets for all Audeze headphones and, with those filters, users can have an experience similar to what they would hear from high quality studio reference monitors in an acoustically treated room - without the pesky room reflections and reverb - directly on headphones. The company calls this the Audeze Target Response. For professional applications and for music producers and sound engineers working from home, Reveal+ allows mixing and/or mastering in virtually any location and ensure that work will translate well in any other sound system.
In addition to the standard headphone presets, Reveal+ improved the user interface experience with an integrated QR code display for A.I. assisted HRTF capture and creation of the user Aural Map. These measurements of the users ears are done simply with the camera on any smartphone and are processed in a remote server by Embody, where the personalized HRTF is generated. When the user applies the spatialization effect (Aural Map based on the user HRTF), the plug-in allows users to select an emulation of the speaker setup used in the "virtual studio" sampled from the real room response in world-class mixing and mastering studios. The plug-in also allows users to control the ambience, customizing the level of room reflections.
The 1.3.1 update, which is available for the full version of the Audeze Reveal+ plugin only (there is a free trial version), improves the application user interface and design, and introduces a new web-based approach to capturing personalized HRTF images based on Embody's Aural Mapping technology. In addition, the new HRTF aware presets now retain better tonal balance even when spatialization is enabled.
Users with the current Audeze Reveal+ just need to close and reopen the plugin to trigger a “Software Update Available” message on the top right corner. Clicking on the link allows downloading the Audeze Reveal+ 1.3.1 installer.
The Reveal+ plugin is compatible with DAWs and playback software that supports AU, VST plugins, or AAX plugins. Compatible DAWs include ProTools, Logic, Ableton Live, Digital Performer, Reaper, and others. Compatible audio playback software includes JRiver, Audirvana Plus, Pure Music, VOX and others. The filters used by the Reveal+ plugin were designed for all commonly used sample-rates (44.1 kHz - 768 kHz), so no resampling happens no matter what sample-rate is used.
Audeze already confirmed that users can expect new features in the next few months for the Audeze Reveal+ plugin.
