The first RMAF was held in October 2004. In 2019, RMAF will celebrate 16 years of bringing the best in high-end audio to Denver. Attendees are music lovers, audio enthusiasts, DIYers, technophiles, students and teachers congregating in Denver to see the latest innovations. Many attendees are looking for a system and will seize this opportunity to compare brands, quality, and features before committing to a purchase. But there's increasingly a trade angle to RMAF, with multiple companies planning their product launches or North American presentations at the show.
Most RMAF exhibitors are manufacturers, distributors, retailers and craftsmen from the international electronics industry. The RMAF Exhibitor List is certainly impressive, combining the most established consumer and high-end audio brands from US and Canada with European and Asian counterparts. And the show is always complemented with a nice mix of seminars, entertainment, and a room full of the latest headphone gear, with the concurrent HeadSpace @ RMAF.
For the first time in some years, RMAF 2019 will not be complemented by the traditional CanJam@RMAF, promoted by Head-fi, although the headphone and personal audio experience at the Denver show will remain, only now organized by the Colorado Audio Society, promoters of the show. The organization is promising the latest and greatest in headphone technology.
After dealing with many problems in the Denver Marriott Tech Center, where the show was held for past years, including in 2018 when the complex was totally remodeled but remained acoustically challenged, the show promoters decided to relocate to a new home in the brand new Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, just five miles from the Denver International Airport. In 2018, Marjorie Baumert made the announcement, forcing the organization also to move the show dates to the first weekend in September. In the end, a great move, since it positions RMAF just prior from the other largest North American residential trade show, CEDIA Expo.
The move to the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center also looks like a wining opportunity. The resort and convention center opened to the public on December 18, 2018 and the facility includes 1501 rooms and 114 larger suites, allowing for more than enough space for RMAF to satisfy exhibitor demand. Also, the resort has excellent dining facilities, with at least eight restaurants, and a bar with views of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains.
Stationed at the edge of the Front Range, in Aurora, the Gaylord Rockies is closer to the airport, and attendees will be able to board the light rail eithr at the airport or in downtown Denver, and take it to the hotel's free shuttle service that will run non-stop. Locals who choose to drive instead will find up to 2700 parking spaces waiting for them.
The Colorado Audio Society continues to be the heart and soul of RMAF, with RMAF 2019 being its 16th year of this show. Their mission remains unchanged: to create an international, affordable and welcoming trade show, also powered by the enthusiasm of many local volunteers.
Each year RMAF has a host of seminars dedicated to imparting a deeper knowledge of the audio industry. The discussions consist of designers, press, engineers, company owners and a variety of industry experts. Seminar attendees consist of engineers, retailers, those already in the industry and those aspiring to do so. Panels range from one speaker to seven panelists on a variety of subjects.September 6-8, 2019
