Powersoft announced that it will exhibit its M-System innovations next month at ALMA’s Winter Symposium on January 3rd & 4th [Booth 24] at the Tuscany Suites and Casino in Las Vegas. The theme for this year’s Winter Symposium — which is recognized as the premier event for the loudspeaker and acoustics industry — will be “Digitally Driven Loudspeakers: A New Paradigm Demands New Designs.”
M-Force is an innovative and unique transducer based on a patented moving magnet linear motor structure
Claudio Lastrucci, Powersoft’s Research & Development Director, will be on hand to deliver a tutorial, “A New High Performance Moving Magnet Acoustic Transducer” (T1), on behalf of Powersoft. The company will also offer live booth demonstrations of its M-Force and M-Drive solutions, which were launched at InfoComm 2014 and represent a milestone in loudspeaker engineering. The M-Force transducer, for example, features 'push-pull' technology, an extremely powerful motor and unique displacement capabilities — all of which enable M-Force to deliver unsurpassed precision, efficiency and accurate sound reproduction.
The presentation discusses the development of this new electro-dynamic device that considerably improves electrical to acoustical conversion efficiency, sound quality, robustness and power handling. A fully balanced and symmetrical moving magnet motor design, along with anisotropic magnetic compound integration, delivers substantial performances in terms of acceleration, linearity and efficiency. The new device provides additional degrees of freedom in high quality professional speaker design.
Lastrucci’s tutorial, which is scheduled to occur Saturday morning, January 3rd at 8:00 a.m. in Florentine A, will focus on new technologies that are now available in the electronic amplification domain, and how innovations in magnetic materials — including the development of new electrodynamic devices — can lead to improvements in electrical to acoustical conversion efficiency, sound quality and power handling. As co-founder and R&D Development Director of Powersoft, Lastrucci’s fields of expertise include electric power, audio amplification, signal processing, acoustic design and other areas.
M-Drive is the most powerful amp module ever built and able to drive even the most demanding applications of self-powered subwoofers.
Earlier this year, Lastrucci introduced Powersoft’s M-Force linear motor technology at the 136th AES Convention in Berlin [Convention Paper 9060, by Claudio Lastrucci], and presented on the practical use of M-Force linear motor technology with his colleague Mario di Cola of Audio Labs Systems at the 137th AES Convention in New York [Subwoofer design with Moving Magnet Linear Motor: by Mario Di Cola, Claudio Lastrucci and Lorenzo Lombardi], both of which discuss significant innovations in loudspeaker design. The papers are available to download at the AES website.
Since its launch, Powersoft’s M-Force system — including M-Force and M-Drive solutions — have been used in a variety of high profile applications by A/V specialists and integrators including ATK Audiotek, Maryland Sound International (MSI) and others.
