Pan Acoustics Announces Pan Beam Dante Option at Proligh+Sound 2015

Pan Acoustics confirmed it is unveiling Dante audio network options for its Pan Beam series of high-performance beamsteering speakers, together with Powerline technology options for existing two-wire installations. The German company will also unveil a new model to its Pan Speaker series of compact passive vertical array systems.

According to Pan Acoustics, the Dante option offers some interesting features to the Pan Beam range. On top of the existing networking capabilities, Pan Beam columns can be operated with two independent audio streams with a sampling frequency of up to 192 kHz. The priority circuit in the Pan Beam columns also allows automatic switchover of the audio source, for instance switching between program and announcement signals.

Pan Acoustics’ Dante option provides a primary and secondary port, which can be used in redundant or daisy-chain mode. The latter enables other compatible Dante devices, such as a digital stagebox, to be added into the network. Pan Beam models can be set and monitored via the Dante audio network (directivity, EQ, delay, etc), while switching presets, saved in the Pan Beam column speakers.

On top of this interesting announcement which brings network connectivity directly to DSP processed speakers, Pan Acoustics will also be expanding its compact passive loudspeakers in the Pan Speaker series which already includes eleven models including a subwoofer. The series, designed for installations as well as rental applications will new include a new model to be introduced at the Prolight+Sound 2015 show in Frankfurt.

Pan Powerline is a technology created by the German company, combining the transmission of audio signals, control data and power supply via two electrical wires. The solution allows updating and expanding existing audio systems without removing or replacing existing cables. The two-wire-system can be applicable for any purpose, reusing existing electricity cabling, bell-wire or even 100V-cable.

A Pan Powerline system consists of a master Central Control Unit (CCU), to combine the input audio signals with control data and the power supply. A single CCU can manage up to four Powerline loudspeakers of different types, using different parameters in terms of frequency response, beam steering and delay. Integration of the system within a media control is also possible, while the solutions can be connected in daisy-chain, star or a combination of those topologies.
