The ASA establishes the criteria for acoustics compliancy of test and measurement microphones and sound level meter systems. They also define test and measurement procedures for mechanical vibration, shock, bioacoustics, environmental noise, and hearing conservation. The committee issues bi-monthly communications to the acoustics community and meets annually to develop new standards and revise existing standards. Dr. Walber earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Acoustics and Vibration from the Michigan Technological University. In addition to his academic credentials, he has approximately 10 years of hands-on working experience with sound and vibration sensors. He also serves as the Co-chair of the ASA Standards Committee S1/WG1 (Microphones) and is a voting member of the IEC/TC29 Electroacoustics (Microphones) Standards Committee.
PCB Piezotronics designs, manufactures, and is a global supplier of microphones, accelerometers, and force, torque, load, strain, and pressure sensors, and is the pioneer of ICP technology. This instrumentation is used for test, measurement, monitoring, and control requirements in applications for automotive, aerospace, industrial, energy, R&D, military, educational, commercial, and OEMs.
