64 Audio, the in-ear monitor company from Vancouver, WA, announced the new U6t Universal In-Ear Monitor, available with an MSRP of $1,299. This six-driver model has been designed for discerning music enthusiasts looking to combine all of the properties of 64 Audio’s acclaimed A6t custom IEM into a universal - and more affordable - option. The new U6t still combines the company's recognized technologies and design features from custom IEMs.
64 Audio was founded by Vitaliy Belonozhko, a sound engineer who has been working with musicians and production companies for nearly two decades. He discovered the advantages of IEMs over traditional floor “wedge” monitors and recognized that a better solution to in-ear monitoring was needed. Today, with a staff of over 70 people and an experienced engineering team, 64 Audio is an innovative in-ear monitor manufacturer, supplying products worldwide, including to some of the best-known bands and audio engineers in the world.
The new U6t uses six precision balanced armature drivers configured with an integrated 4-way passive crossover, with one driver for high frequencies, another for high-mid, two for mid frequencies, and two more for low frequencies, supporting a frequency response up to 20kHz with 108db sensitivity and 10Ω @ 1kHz impedance. The universal shell is milled out of a solid aerospace grade aluminum billet.
“This is a significant launch for us,” says Vitaliy Belonozhko. “The U6t represents the culmination of some very hard work by our R&D and engineering teams to bring the A6t’s sonic performance into a universal option that can be utilized by a broad spectrum of consumers who can now experience 64 Audio’s technologies that were previously relegated to our higher-end and more expensive custom monitors.”
In standard 64 Audio fashion, the U6t is described as "a balanced natural sounding design, slightly set apart from 64 Audio’s other UIEM models by offering a softer presentation of a mix." Using the various included apex venting modules and ear-tips allows the listener to further customize the sound of the U6t.
Like other 64 Audio products, the U6t features "tia" acoustic chambers and single-bore design, exclusive to the company, combined with the company's Linear Impedance Design (LID) circuit, and patented apex (Air Pressure Exchange) pneumatic venting system that relieves air pressure in a sealed ear canal, alleviating listener fatigue and opening the soundstage.
The U6t package includes an exclusive new premium cable with twisted silver plated OCC copper wire, protective leather case, three different sizes of TrueFidelity, Silicone, and SpinFit eartip sets, a set of m20 and m15 apex modules and 64 Audio sticker.
“This is our lowest priced universal IEM, so it is also a great way for audiophiles to get into our products,” Belonozhko continued. “As the A6t is the in-ear monitor of choice for many discerning music lovers, the technology shared with the U6t offers detailed highs, smooth mids, defined lower-mids, deep lows, and terrific headroom.”
