TIDAL Connect HiFi Casting Technology Available on BluOS Connected Devices

October 20 2020, 01:10
BluOS, the premium multi-room music management platform by Lenbrook International, is among a carefully chosen group of launch partners for the new TIDAL Connect technology. The new solution from TIDAL follows a similar device-casting approach as the proven Spotify Connect service, which enables users to login to their account and stream music directly from a speaker or any connected network streamer. The difference with TIDAL Connect on BluOS is the possibility to stream lossless music audio formats available through TIDAL HiFi premium tier.

Following a software update on October 20, 2020, BluOS Enabled players from NAD Electronics, Bluesound, DALI Loudspeakers, and Monitor Audio, will be able to access TIDAL Connect’s first and only HiFi casting technology from a music streaming service, which allows users to stream music directly to connected devices in lossless audio quality, at the touch of a button.

BluOS is Lenbrook's multi-room audio ecosystem that supports high-resolution audio streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz. Integrated with numerous smart home and voice control systems, BluOS allows for interoperability among enabled devices across brands. Made up of an operating system and a control application for smartphones, tablets, and PC desktops, BluOS delivers integrations with popular streaming music services like Tidal, Spotify, and Deezer, as well as support for FLAC, WAV, MQA, and high resolution formats and codecs.

"Our goal is to connect customers with the music they love," says Andrew Haines, BluOS Product Manager. "We are excited to offer BluOS customers the opportunity to be amongst the first in the world to access TIDAL Connect, which gives them a quick-access way to enjoy lossless music streaming."

For the first time ever, BluOS customers who are subscribers to TIDAL’s HiFi tier can now enjoy uninterrupted playback of their favorite albums or tracks in their preferred quality on their preferred devices, with the TIDAL app functioning simply as a controller. Available to TIDAL Premium members as well, users can open the “Now Playing,” screen while playing a song, click on the device selector on the bottom left, and choose the TIDAL Connect-enabled device for playback.

Users of BluOS devices will still require the BluOS Controller app for advanced controls like player grouping and listening preferences. TIDAL will also continue to work as before, with direct browsing, search, and playlist creation natively inside BluOS Controller.

"TIDAL consistently looks for opportunities to normalize and elevate the HiFi listening experience, with its chief aims being uncompromised high-fidelity sound and seamless access to entertainment. TIDAL Connect offers HiFi members another route to discovery, making it easier to control music on a preferred device and motivating users to use TIDAL as intended, wherever and whenever," says Lior Tibon, TIDAL COO.

TIDAL Connect is also the only casting technology until now to feature support for the extended audio formats available through TIDAL HiFi, including Master Quality Audio (MQA) high resolution audio, Sony’s 360 Reality Audio, and Dolby Atmos immersive audio experiences through object-based audio.

TIDAL also offers music lovers unlimited access to its extensive catalogue of over 60 million tracks across all genres, thousands of expertly curated playlists by TIDAL’s seasoned editorial team and endless artist radio stations. With “HiFi Albums For You” and “New HiFi Tracks For You,” TIDAL curates playlists based on user listening patterns so HiFi members can listen to the latest releases in the best quality available. Immediately upon creating an account, members will receive a personalized “Welcome Mix” featuring music from their favorite artists and inspiring new music discovery.
