Cambridge Audio announced its new flagship DAC and headphone amplifier, DacMagic 200M. This new top-of-the-range DAC is the first product from Cambridge Audio to feature full MQA decoding, also offers integrated Bluetooth 5, and with Dual ESS Sabre DACs, it can handle PCM and DSD signal inputs at a higher resolution than the previous generation. The Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M will be available for purchase in February 2021 for $499 USD.

For users currently listening to their favorite music streaming services, their extensive CD collections or those who want to boost the sound of an existing home audio system, the new DacMagic 200M instantly improves the sonic performance from digital sources and existing digital devices.

As Cambridge Audio explains, the DacMagic 200M has been designed for digital audio from the ground up, ensuring digital music performs perfectly regardless of its source. With dual ESS Sabre ES9028Q2M converters at its heart, the DacMagic 200M is a step up from the previous generation DacMagic Plus, being able to handle PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 .

All digital files – whether it’s on a CD, streamed from a smartphone, or stored on a laptop – are converted to analog audio with all of its detail and dynamics intact. The dual mono configuration means each DAC processes the left and right channels separately, resulting in a performance that is free of distortion, precise and delivers superb dynamic range.

Switchable digital filters on the DacMagic 200M offer greater flexibility and control over the listening experience. These three preset filters help reduce noise generated by the digital-to-analog conversion process, with each filter offering a different sonic option depending on the source material.

And the DacMagic 200M is Cambridge Audio's first product to natively support MQA full decoding (Core + Renderer), allowing users to benefit from TIDAL's MQA-based music streaming service, TIDAL Masters. Cambridge Audio’s DacMagic 200M can fully unfold and convert these incredibly accurate files, and makes it easy to know when the user is listening to MQA files: the LEDs on the front panel will light up to confirm the files have been authenticated and are delivering a full studio-quality audio stream.

For listening with headphones, the DacMagic 200M also includes a high-quality class A/B headphone amplifier, while the rear panel includes all the options that a user could possibly wish for, in a compact steel and aluminum box that can be placed within an existing audio set-up, on a desk, or even on the TV rack. The extensive connectivity options include both balanced and unbalanced analog connections, multiple digital inputs (two coaxial, two optical, one USB type-B), while the integrated Bluetooth 5 radio with aptX and AAC support means the ability to connect all the latest wireless devices.

The Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M is priced $499 USD or €499 EUR and will be available from February 2021.
