Kakao Enterprise and DSP Concepts Raise the Bar for Voice Performance in Mini Hexa Smart Speaker

DSP Concepts announced it partnered with South Korea's Kakao Enterprise to enable the voice user interface in its latest Mini Hexa smart speaker (KE-H200). The Mini Hexa is the company’s fourth smart device to be released and uses DSP Concepts’ TalkTo audio front end to eliminate unreferenced sound for far-field voice control in noisy and unpredictable environments. The result ensures flawless speech recognition regardless of external sound for an optimal user experience.

Earin, the technology company from Malmö, Sweden, and pioneer of the original true wireless concept, used CES 2021 to unveil its third-generation of premium earbuds, the A-3. Backed by an impressive Kickstarter community, Earin was one of the first companies to actually ship true wireless in-earphones in 2015 and they immediately set the bar high in extremely compact earbuds. The new A-3 is now a more mature Bluetooth 5 product that combines a new loose-fit design with improved audio quality.

Hearing aid manufacturer Oticon is challenging once again the conventions of hearing aid technology and looking at ways to leverage the latest advancements in edge-processing. The company launched Oticon More, the first-ever hearing aid built with an on-board deep neural network (DNN), to give people with mild-to-severe hearing loss a fuller, more balanced and more effortless hearing experience. The goal is to enhance hearing with an AI engine trained on real-life sounds.

The famous consumer audio brand (a VOXX International company), teamed up with Dirac's digital audio processing experts, and the pioneers in hearables and creators of the Bragi Software Suite with embedded AI, to create the new Klipsch T5 II True Wireless ANC Earphones, which will be launched later in 2021.

As the annual tradition mandates, apart from smartphones of multiple sizes, some of which come with a stylus, Samsung also introduced accessories for those phones. In this case, an updated set of True Wireless Earbuds with improved sound quality and intelligent ANC, available in multiple colors, including purple. As a differentiator, the Buds Pro use a two-way driver design.

Turtle Beach Acquires What's Left of Neat Microphones

Neat Microphones was one of the unfortunate victims of the Gibson Group debacle. The company was founded in 2014 by Skipper Wise and Martins Saulespurens, the co-founders of Blue Microphones. Neat was introduced to the market in 2016, only to disappear short after. Nothing was known about the company since 2017, when all the founders apparently moved on. Now, Nest was acquired by Turtle Beach, and the San-Diego-based company says that the original Neat team is also joining.

Sony Goes Spatial With New SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 Wireless Home Speakers

"Change the Way You Listen to Music" is Sony's pitch for CES 2021, reinforcing the company's past research efforts in spatial audio and specifically its 360 Reality Audio and Immersive Audio Enhancement technologies. The concept was so far implemented in binaural mode with headphones, but Sony demonstrated some concepts with speakers able to generate "ambient room-filling sound" since CES 2019. With users spending more time at home, Sony decided it was time to launch the new 360 Reality Audio wireless speakers, model SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000.
