Audinate Acquires Video IP Codecs and Business Unit from Silex Insight

Silex Insight, a supplier of video IP codec and custom OEM solutions for AV applications, announced that it has signed an agreement to divest its video business to Audinate Group Limited, based in Australia. The Silex Insight video business produces video networking products for manufacturers of AV equipment, and its team was a leading force in the promotion of the Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) open standards efforts promoted by the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS).

Recording multiple tracks in a compact device, with tiny buttons and faders, hard to read LED meters and an input bay cluttered with cables and jack connectors that could generate noise anytime we accidentally touch them... It seemed like a great idea in the 1980s, when it was just the cheapest (and sometimes only) way to record 4 to 8 tracks. More than thirty years later, the Japanese audio innovator Zoom Corporation believes in perfecting the concept, and launched a modern design with touchscreen interface.

Cambridge Mechatronics Announces Ultra-slim, High Precision Rotary Actuator

Cambridge Mechatronics, a leading British company and developer of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuators has developed a new ultra-slim, high precision rotary actuator product. The actuator characteristics include lightweight design, two thousand step positions per revolution and it is completely non-magnetic so it can operate in areas of high magnetic flux that might otherwise exclude conventional motor technologies. With a low profile of around 1mm, it can be used in the most space-constrained applications.

Following the major fire that destroyed its semiconductor factory in Japan, Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) is back online and promises new announcements in January 2022. audioXpress received notice from Gaku Suzuki, General Manager for Digital Marketing HiFi ICs at AKM that the company's famed Velvet Sound DACs and ADCs are about to resume production. We also learned that the company intends to focus on a new generation of chips and offer updated replacements for existing references.

Dutch Speaker Company Mayht Receives Investment from Swedish Solar Cell Company Exeger

Swedish company Exeger - the company behind the Powerfoyle solar cell material already powering self-charging consumer electronic devices - venture capital firm Forward.One, and music producer and DJ Martin Garrix, have led the latest funding round of investment in the innovative Dutch audio-tech start-up, Mayht. The Series A follow-on round takes investment in the firm to nearly USD $10 million so far.
